Biographical information

Dr. Jennifer Robinson is Professor of Teaching and Learning and Executive Director of the Center of Pedagogy at Montclair State University, which is the institutional unit that coordinates the simultaneous renewal of the schools and those who prepare educators. She oversees the operations and policies of teacher certification programs by supporting the work of faculty from the liberal arts and sciences, the college of education, and the schools. She has been Principal Investigator/Director of more than $14 million in externally funded grants to prepare and renew beginning and experienced educators for school districts across New Jersey. A career educator, Robinson began as a special education teacher in Chicago Public Schools and went on to become Assistant Director of Childhood Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. In 1998, she founded a special office to recruit and retain students of color into teaching at Montclair State. The work continues today within the Center of Pedagogy. Robinson serves on several state and national teacher education committees and boards, has made numerous professional presentations, and has written about recruiting, retaining and sustaining teachers as well as developing and supporting school/university partnerships.
